RATES AND WATER
Overdue Water notices have been issued. Original notices were due for payment on 27 November. The second instalment notice for rates has been issued and they were due for payment on 30 November 2023.
Please contact Council as soon as possible if you are having difficulties making your rates or water payments so that arrangements may be entered into.
If ratepayers do not make payments or contact Council for a plan, they may be referred to a debt recovery agent and further fees and charges added to the account. All overdue payments also incur an interest charge of 8 per cent, calculated daily which also adds to the debt. Council may also install flow restrictors to water meters for ratepayers with overdue water accounts as a last resort.
Payments can be made in person by cash, cheque and eftpos at Council between 8.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday. Payments may also be made by bpay, direct debit, Credit card, deductions from Centrelink. Please contact Council if you wish to discuss any of these options further.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AND RURAL MAILBOX COMPETITIONS - BRIGHTEN UP OUR SHIRE AND WIN GREAT PRIZEMONEY
It’s officially Christmas season and in the Bogan Shire that means the annual Christmas Lights and Rural Mailbox competitions are up and running.
Every year Bogan Shire Council and our generous sponsors team up to offer some great cash prizes for the best decorated homes and businesses – and for our rural residents, their mailbox or property entrance.
Christmas decorations bring great joy to the residents and visitors to our Shire and we encourage everyone to get on board.
Entry forms can be obtained from the Bogan Shire Library, Bogan Shire front counter and Councils’ website. Entries close Friday 15th December 2023.
COUNCIL CLOSURE FOR CHRISTMAS PARTY
Bogan Shire Council offices and services will be closed on Thursday, December 14 from 12.00pm for the annual staff and Councillor Christmas party.
COUNCIL CLOSURES FOR CHRISTMAS - NEW YEAR
The Council administration offices, Nyngan Library, Bogan Shire Medical Centre and Bogan Shire Youth and Community Centre will be closed at the completion of business on Friday 22 December until Tuesday 2 January 2024.
The Bogan Shire Early Learning Centre will close between Wednesday 20 December 2023 and Friday 12 January 2024.
NYNGAN LIBRARY
Baby time: Every Friday starting at 11.00am.
Story time: Every Monday and Tuesday at 10.30am.
NYNGAN SWIMMING POOL
December opening hours: Monday to Friday, 6.30am-8.00am and 11.00am to 8.00pm.
Waterslide hours: weekdays after school – two hours per day; weekdays during school holidays – five hours per day; weekends and public holidays – five hours per day.
Entry: single daily admission: $3 per adult and $1 for children under two (if swimming). Season ticket: Single - $110; Family - $215.
NEXT COUNCIL MEETING (note change of time)
The next ordinary meeting of Council will be held on Thursday 14 December 2023 commencing at 9.00am. Members of the public are welcome to sit in the visitor gallery at Council meetings (with the exception of during confidential time). Council business papers, minutes and a recording of meetings are available on the website www.bogan.nsw.gov.au or as hard copy at the Nyngan Library.
