RATES AND WATER

Water accounts issued for the June 2024 quarter were due for payment on 31 July. Annual Rate Notices for 2024/2025 have been issued with the first instalment due for payment on 31 August.

Please contact Council as soon as possible if you are having difficulties making your rates or water payments so arrangements may be entered into. If ratepayers do not make contact, they may be referred to a debt recovery agent and further fees and charges added to the account.

All overdue payments also incur an interest charge of 10.5 percent, calculated daily. Council may also install flow restrictors to water meters for ratepayers with overdue water accounts. This is a last resort option. Payments can be made in person by cash, cheque and eftpos at Council between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday. Customers can also use bpay, direct debit, credit card, or deductions from Centrelink. Please contact Council if you wish to discuss any of these options further.

OVERGROWN PROPERTIES

Council has been made aware of a number of overgrown properties in Nyngan and the villages.  Not only do these properties look unsightly, but they can also harbour rodents, snakes and other problematic animals.  As the weather warms up these properties also present a fire risk.

If a property owner doesn’t comply with Council instructions to remove overgrown vegetation within an acceptable time-frame council will enter the property and clear it – with all costs passed on to the owner. For further information or to report an overgrown property contact Council administration on 68359000 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
